Inlays & Onlays FAQs

Healthy gums

Q.

My dentist says that I need to have healthy gums before I can have my inlay or onlay?

A.

This is very sound advice.

If your gums are inflamed (Gingivitis) or you have more serious gum problems such as a loss of attachment around your teeth (Periodontitis), it is vital that these conditions are treated effectively so that the foundations of your teeth are healthy prior to having advanced dental treatment.

Bleeding inflamed gums can make it impossible for your dentist to take an accurate impression of your tooth or to properly fit your completed inlay or onlay.
